Research is focused on the development and clinical testing of Plasmodium falciparum malaria vaccines and on the analysis of both specific and non-specific immune correlates of protection and induction of protective immunity. Both experimental in naïve volunteers and natural acquired infections in malaria endemic areas are subject of this analysis. Interest is also focused on transmission blocking vaccines. This involves antigen discovery and translational research where products enter the vaccine development pathway of production formulation, preclinical testing and clinical trials.
