Profile

Frank Hoentjen is a gastroenterologist with a specific interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The general aim of his research is to optimize immunosuppressive therapies in order to achieve better disease control in IBD patients. Targets include thiopurine therapy and anti-TNF therapy. A second field of expertise includes intestinal and extra-intestinal malignancies in IBD. He is chairman of the IB-DREAM registry and treasurer of the Initiative on Crohn and Colitis (ICC).
